All woollen or velvet items really should be dry cleaned only. Linen or cotton items may be machine washed at 40 degrees.

Do not iron while wet or damp. Do not wring or roll as this may pull fibres out of shape, use a squeezing action.

If the garment is heavy (eg a coat or cloak), dry flat on towels - if possible dry all clothing by this method. If drying out of doors, protect from strong sunlight.

Do not dry near a direct heat source (fire or heater).

Store in a cool, dry, dark place away from strong sunlight which will fade all deep colours (particularly red and black).

While these instructions may seem overly detailed, following them will ensure that your garments stay in prime condition for longer.
